2008 A.T.T.A.C.K. Athletics Elite Player Combine

Forty of the top high school underclassmen attended the First Annual A.T.T.A.C.K. Athletics Elite Player Combine at The A.T.T.A.C.K. Athletics Training Center this past weekend. Athletes had the opportunity to train with A.T.T.A.C.K. Athletics instructors on their basketball skill development as well as work on game situation training as well as physical testing to determine the combine's top athlete.

"Since this was the first year of this event we really wanted to get a chance to really instruct them and show them the proper way to get better. We want to get our point across that as good as Dwyane Wade, Kobe Bryant, and Andre Iguodala is that they are dedicated to work on their skill sets during the off season to improve on their games. I was extremely pleased of how this event went and look forward to holding this event in the years to come" Tim Grover President of A.T.T.A.C.K. Athletics.

The Camp was divided into two separate sessions hosting approximately 20 players each session. Players heard lectures about N.C.A.A. recruiting guidelines from Joeseph Curtis of N.C.S.A. After the lecture they were split up into three groups based on position and worked on basketball skill development. Instructors then coached the campers through game situations and team offense in the half court and then let them play structured full court games. The games served as teaching points as the instructors corrected mistakes and coached up the athletes.

" We wanted to create a professional type atmosphere in the combine. I get a chance to see the different events out there on the Grassroots circuit and notice that they are mostly the same. We wanted to create a camp where the athletes get to be instructed by great coaches, evaluated by scouting services, and get to compete against some of the top players in the area. I had the opportunity to scout for the Boston Celtics and had a chance to see first hand some of the combines that the N.B.A. ran first hand. Tim and I spoke about putting something together special for the kids and I believe that’s what we did here today" Mike Procopio Director of Basketball Operations A.T.T.A.C.K. Athletics

A.T.T.A.C.K. Trainers then put the campers through physical testing on strength, speed, and agility to determine the camp's top athlete. "I think the strength and athletic testing component was something that the kids really enjoyed. They go to camps where they play and sometimes coached, but I don't think they have ever gone through the testing that we had them go through today" Tim Grover
